This cylindrical candle should be placed in a "cup" called a votive holder (usually made of glass) to hold the liquefied wax that results from burning. A proper votive holder will hold the votive candle tightly leaving no room between the votive candle and the cup.

Make the most of your Goose Creek Candle: Place candle in a non-combustible container on a heat resistant surface and away from combustible materials. Burn in a draft free area. Keep wick trimmed between 1/4" and 1/8" at all times. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
